What Are Saboteurs?
Saboteurs are ingrained mental patterns that limit your potential by clouding your thinking and undermining confidence. These inner critics operate from a place of fear, self-doubt, or negativity. Examples include the Avoider, the Victim, and the Hyper-Achiever, each of which sabotages success and wellbeing in different ways.

The Hyper-Rational is driven by a relentless pursuit of logic and rationality. While these qualities can be valuable, an excessive focus on logic can lead to emotional detachment, difficulty connecting with others, and a lack of creativity.

The Hyper-Rational Saboteur places an excessive focus on logic and rational analysis, even in personal relationships. This can create an aura of emotional detachment, making the person seem cold or distant. Driven by skepticism and debate, the Hyper-Rational often struggles with vulnerability and prefers intellectual superiority over emotional connection.

 

Recognizing the Hyper-Rational
The Hyper-Rational can manifest in several ways, often causing its host to overanalyze situations and dismiss emotional input. Below are key characteristics to watch for.

 

The Hyper-Rational’s Early Function
In emotionally chaotic environments, children may use their rational minds to find security. This survival mechanism helps them feel in control by focusing on intellectual prowess rather than emotional vulnerability. In adulthood, this tendency can lead to a need for recognition as the “smartest” or most competent person in the room.

  2. Practice PQ Reps
    A PQ Rep is a 10-second hyper-focus on one of your senses, designed to shift your brain away from the Saboteur and toward your positive Sage self.
